Rate Your Favorite Bible Characters…

What in the World is It? A GREAT way to draw kids into your Bible story!
The CLAMeter (the Closer Look At Meter) consists of five disks that rotate to rate your favorite Bible characters in five categories. Your students vote as a group to rate a Bible character on a scale of zero to 10.
Let’s say you are looking at the story of Jesus walking on water. A big part of that incident is Peter’s attempt to join Jesus on the surface of the lake. Your kids vote as a group to rate Peter on his faith (the first disk). Zero is terrible and 10 is great. Remember, Peter’s faith was great at first, but then he doubted. Your listeners may think he rates a 5.
Next your class votes to rate Peter’s obedience (he was crossing the lake as Jesus had commanded), the impact Peter had on the lesson of this story, Peter’s potential to achieve great things for God and a miscellaneous category we call Nose Hairs (anything you want it to be). Of course, you can redefine any disk to more nearly suit your Bible story.
Add up the five numbers kids have voted for, then divide by five to get Peter’s ultimate CLAMeter rating. Believe me, this really gets kids focused on the story!
Materials: Five 12-inch white disks and one 11-inch by six-foot shelf (prefinished white mdf is available in these sizes at Home Depot and the like). Five screws to attach the disks. You’ll want hardware to attach the CLAMeter to your wall. The printed artwork is downloadable HERE. The artwork also has all the detailed instructions for assembly. Spray adhesive is also needed.
Tools: Power drill and bit, screwdriver.
Difficulty: No cutting is required if you use the recommended disks and shelving. You’ll need to drill some holes.
This is one of my favorite Sunday School props–go for it!
